Lori Baker - Of Counsel, CPA, CSEP, AEP

Lori is the “Baker” of Baker Holtz, and she is also our Of Counsel.  She has devoted the majority of her time to tax planning and consulting.  Lori’s experience working in all areas of the practice gives her a particularly well-rounded perspective and ability to advise clients.

While Lori celebrated 30 years with Baker Holtz in 2012 and loves the fact that “it’s never the same day twice”, she’s quick to let you know she’s made up of much more than accounting genes.

A firm believer that The Smithsonian and National Geographic are meant to be read cover to cover, she loves learning and enjoys stretching her creative muscles.  She has a fascination with historic buildings, loves to travel and is passionate about caring for the environment.

Lori received her BSBA degree in Accounting from Aquinas College in May 1985 and was awarded her certification in public accounting the following September.  She claims she did things “backwards” because she already had a family when she started taking classes at night.  As her way of thanking the college that taught her so much, the firm has become a corporate partner and she established a scholarship at Aquinas in 2012.

Lori sits on the board of directors at St. Cecilia Music Center  as the past President (which combines her love of music, old buildings and empowering women), is current Chairperson of the Kent County Parks Foundation board, and a Davenport University Alumni Board member.

Ask anyone on staff at Baker Holtz and they’ll tell you that Lori’s love of the Grand Rapids community and example of service has not only set a fabulous example of “giving back” but also inspired them to do the same.
