Melissa A. Seguin - Partner, CPA, MSA, CSEP

Since 2005, Melissa has provided Baker Holtz clients with income tax compliance and consulting services, with a specialization in the estate and trust work.  She loves the variety of learning about their businesses and helping them succeed.  She especially appreciates the culture at Baker Holtz and cites “coworkers who have become friends” as a great motivation for work each day.

Originally from Alpena, Melissa is our token “northerner” and makes several trips home to visit family and friends throughout the year.  Her favorite time to head north is in October, as the drive instantly becomes a free color tour.  And while it’s a relatively popular name in Alpena, there are very few people with the last name “Seguin” (pronounced “say-a”) in West Michigan.  Melissa recounts the story of a professor who finally got it right when he said “You know that Outkast song “Hey Ya”? Well, I just think of that song when I need to say your last name.”

Melissa completed her BBA in Accounting and Finance at Grand Valley State University in 2004 and received her Master of Science in Accounting a year later.  While attending GVSU, she was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an accounting honors society.  She received her CPA license in 2006.

Melissa maintains multiple professional memberships including the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance, of which she is a former President. She volunteers her time as the Treasurer for Literacy Center of West Michigan, St. Pius X Catholic Parish Finance Committee and is the Chair for the Visser Family YMCA.

During the summer months Melissa can be found on the golf course and enjoys traveling to Raleigh, North Carolina where her nephew and niece live.
